Jeep Wrangler & Gladiator Lift Kits: Cruiser, Climber & Crawler Suspension Packages
Choosing the right Jeep lift kit is about a lot more than deciding how tall you want your Jeep to sit.
A suspension system affects how your Jeep drives, articulates, clears larger tires, handles rough terrain, maintains alignment geometry, and behaves on the highway.
A daily-driven Jeep Wrangler that occasionally explores back roads has very different suspension needs than a Jeep regularly tackling rocks, ledges, ruts, and technical trails.
At Lunes Off-Road in Millington, Tennessee, we simplify that decision by dividing our Jeep suspension builds into three packages:
CRUISER > CLIMBER > CRAWLER
Each package represents a different level of suspension capability while keeping street drivability in mind.
Our suspension packages are available for applicable:
Jeep TJ Wrangler
Jeep JK Wrangler
Jeep JL Wrangler
Jeep JT Gladiator
Specific suspension components vary by Jeep platform, lift height, tire size, and intended use, but the goal remains the same:
Build the suspension around how you actually use your Jeep.
CRUISER
Daily Driven. Looks Right. Ready For Back Roads & Moderate Trails.
The Lunes Off-Road Cruiser Package is designed for Jeep owners who want the stance, clearance, tire fitment, and capability expected from a properly lifted Jeep without building beyond the vehicle's intended use.
For applicable Jeep platforms, the Cruiser is centered around a TeraFlex suspension system selected to provide a solid foundation for everyday driving and recreational off-road use.
This is the Jeep that gets driven to work during the week.
It picks up groceries.
It takes the family around town.
And when the weekend arrives, it may find itself on gravel roads, hunting property, forest roads, back roads, or moderate trails.
The Cruiser is not just about making a Jeep taller.
It is about creating a properly installed suspension package that improves stance and clearance while maintaining the road manners expected from a daily-driven Jeep.
Who Is The Cruiser Package For?
The Cruiser is a strong fit for Jeep owners who want:
A comfortable daily driver
Improved Jeep stance
Additional ground clearance
Larger tire fitment
Back-road capability
Moderate trail capability
A proven suspension foundation
Professional suspension installation and alignment
Drive it every day. Get it dirty on the weekend.
CLIMBER
Serious Trail Capability. More Articulation. Still Ready For Monday Morning.
The Lunes Off-Road Climber Package is the next step for Jeep owners who expect more from their suspension off-road.
Where applicable, the Climber is centered around the MetalCloak True Dual Rate suspension system.
The difference is not simply additional lift height.
The additional suspension components and design allow the suspension to work through a greater range of motion, increasing articulation, travel, and control as terrain becomes more difficult.
That matters when your Jeep starts encountering:
Rocks
Deep ruts
Ledges
Washouts
Off-camber terrain
Uneven trail surfaces
Keeping the tires planted and allowing the suspension to move underneath the Jeep can make a significant difference in both traction and control.
The Climber is built for Jeep owners who actually use their vehicles on the trail but still expect them to behave properly on pavement.
You should not have to choose between trail capability and a Jeep you can comfortably drive home afterward.
Who Is The Climber Package For?
The Climber is a strong fit for Jeep owners who want:
Regular trail capability
Increased suspension articulation
Increased suspension travel
Better control over rough terrain
Improved tire contact on uneven surfaces
MetalCloak True Dual Rate suspension components
Strong street manners
A Jeep that can wheel hard and still be daily driven
Wheel it hard Sunday. Drive it to work Monday.
CRAWLER
Maximum Capability. Fully Tunable Geometry. Still Picking Up The Kids After Practice.
The Lunes Off-Road Crawler Package is our highest-capability suspension package.
For applicable Jeep platforms, the Crawler is centered around the MetalCloak Game Changer suspension system.
At this level, we are no longer talking only about springs, shocks, and lift height.
We are talking about controlling the actual suspension geometry of the Jeep.
The addition of adjustable suspension components gives us significantly more ability to position and tune the axles underneath the vehicle.
Depending on the Jeep and build, that allows us to address areas such as:
Caster
Pinion angle
Axle position
Wheelbase
Front-to-rear axle placement
Suspension geometry
Alignment setup
As tire size, lift height, suspension travel, and trail difficulty increase, these adjustments become increasingly important.
A highly capable suspension should not simply flex well on a rock.
It should also be properly configured when the Jeep is traveling 70 mph down the interstate.
That is the philosophy behind the Crawler.
Maximum trail capability does not automatically mean building a Jeep that has to live on a trailer.
The goal is a Jeep capable of tackling serious terrain while remaining usable in normal life.
Who Is The Crawler Package For?
The Crawler is designed for Jeep owners who want:
Serious rock-crawling capability
Maximum suspension articulation
Greater suspension travel
Adjustable control arms
Fully tunable suspension geometry
Greater control over caster and pinion angle
Greater control over axle position and wheelbase
Support for larger tire builds
A Jeep that remains street driven
Built for the rocks. Civilized enough for the school pickup line.
Cruiser vs. Climber vs. Crawler
Package | Best For | Suspension Focus | Typical Use |
Cruiser | Daily-driven Jeeps | Stance, clearance and larger tire fitment | Street driving, back roads and moderate trails |
Climber | Regular trail Jeeps | Increased travel, articulation and control | Serious recreational trail use while remaining daily-driver friendly |
Crawler | High-capability Jeep builds | Maximum articulation and tunable suspension geometry | Technical trails, rock crawling and larger-tire builds |
The important difference between these packages is not simply price.
Each step adds suspension capability and, where applicable, additional components that allow us to better control how the suspension moves and how the axles are positioned beneath the Jeep.
Which Jeep Lift Kit Is Right For You?
The best suspension package is not automatically the most expensive one.
It is the package that matches what you actually expect the Jeep to do.
If your Jeep spends most of its life on pavement and you want improved stance, more tire clearance, and enough capability to enjoy back roads and moderate trails, the Cruiser may be exactly what you need.
If you regularly wheel your Jeep and want more articulation, travel, and suspension performance while maintaining excellent street usability, look toward the Climber.
If you are building around larger tires, technical terrain, maximum articulation, and the ability to precisely tune suspension geometry, that is where the Crawler earns its place.
Which Jeep Suspension Package Is Right For You?
The right suspension package depends on how you use the Jeep today, how you want it to drive, and where you expect the build to go in the future. That does not mean higher-level suspension only provides value when the trail gets harder. Premium suspension systems are designed to increase off-road capability, but the additional components, geometry control, suspension movement, and overall system design can also improve how the Jeep behaves on pavement. A more complete suspension can provide better axle control, improved ride quality, more predictable handling, and greater ability to properly tune the Jeep for its specific tire size, lift height, and intended use. That means a customer may choose a Climber or Crawler even if the Jeep is still driven primarily on the street. The difference is not simply how extreme the trail is. It is how much suspension performance and adjustability the owner wants from the vehicle.
Cruiser
The Cruiser is a strong starting point for the customer who wants improved stance, clearance, tire fitment, and a well-mannered daily-driven Jeep with moderate trail capability.
If the build evolves later, the Cruiser does not have to be discarded.
We can retain the TeraFlex components and add the appropriate suspension parts needed to improve articulation, axle control, geometry, and overall on-road and off-road performance.
Because the Cruiser starts from a different suspension foundation, its upgrade path may not look exactly like a Climber or Crawler build, but the original investment can still remain part of the vehicle.
Climber
The Climber is designed as both a complete suspension package and a natural stepping stone to the Crawler.
A customer can start with the MetalCloak True Dual Rate Climber configuration and later add the remaining components needed to move into the Crawler level.
The key advantage is that the parts already installed at the Climber level remain part of the finished system.
You are building forward rather than starting over.
Crawler
The Crawler is the most complete suspension configuration in the lineup.
It combines maximum suspension capability with extensive geometry adjustability and gives us greater control over areas such as caster, pinion angle, axle position, wheelbase, and overall suspension setup.
That level of adjustability benefits serious trail use, but it also gives us more ability to properly tune how the Jeep behaves on the road.
The result is not simply a Jeep that can go farther off-road.
It is a suspension system that can be more precisely configured for the entire vehicle.
Built To Grow With The Jeep
One of the biggest advantages of the Cruiser, Climber, and Crawler approach is that the suspension can grow with the build.
A Cruiser can be expanded and modified while retaining its TeraFlex foundation.
A Climber can be upgraded directly into a Crawler without losing the suspension components already installed.
And a Crawler provides the most complete level of suspension control from the start.
The goal is not to sell the customer more suspension than they need.
The goal is to build a suspension system that performs well now, improves the way the Jeep drives both on-road and off-road, and gives the owner a logical path forward as the vehicle evolves.
Jeep Suspension Setup Is More Than Installing A Lift Kit
A quality suspension system is only part of the equation.
How that suspension is installed and configured matters.
At Lunes Off-Road, suspension setup may involve evaluating and adjusting areas such as:
Axle centering
Track bar setup
Caster
Pinion angle
Toe
Steering wheel position
Wheelbase
Suspension clearance
Bump-stop requirements
Driveshaft operating angles
Tire clearance
The exact requirements depend on the Jeep, suspension package, lift height, tire size, and intended use.
This is why we do not view suspension installation as simply bolting on a collection of parts.
The complete vehicle has to work together.
Jeep TJ Wrangler Suspension Packages
The Jeep TJ Wrangler remains one of the most capable and popular solid-axle Jeep platforms ever built.
Whether the goal is a mild daily-driven TJ on larger tires or a highly articulated trail Jeep, suspension selection should account for tire size, driveshaft angles, caster, pinion angle, axle position, and intended use.
Cruiser, Climber, and Crawler configurations can be adapted around the needs of the TJ platform using the appropriate components for the specific build.
Jeep JK Wrangler Lift Kits & Suspension
The Jeep JK Wrangler offers a huge range of suspension options, but that also makes it easy to build one incorrectly.
A JK suspension should be selected around more than advertised lift height.
Tire size, control-arm geometry, track bars, caster, pinion angle, driveshaft angles, and intended trail use should all be considered.
Our Cruiser, Climber, and Crawler packages give JK owners a much easier way to choose the level of suspension capability their build actually requires.
Jeep JL Wrangler Lift Kits & Suspension
The Jeep JL Wrangler is extremely capable from the factory, but larger tires and increased suspension travel change the demands placed on the suspension.
A properly configured JL suspension can improve clearance and articulation while maintaining the road manners that make the JL such a good daily-driven Jeep.
Depending on the intended use, JL customers can choose between the Cruiser, Climber, and Crawler levels rather than attempting to decipher dozens of individual lift-kit configurations.
Jeep JT Gladiator Lift Kits & Suspension
The Jeep Gladiator shares much of its basic suspension architecture with the JL Wrangler but brings a longer wheelbase and different vehicle dynamics into the equation.
That means a Gladiator suspension build should be approached as a Gladiator build — not simply treated like a stretched Wrangler.
Whether your JT is primarily a daily-driven truck, an overland build, a weekend trail vehicle, or a serious off-road Gladiator, suspension selection should account for its intended use, tire size, geometry, and longer wheelbase.
The Cruiser, Climber, and Crawler system gives Gladiator owners the same straightforward way to choose the appropriate level of suspension capability.
TeraFlex vs. MetalCloak: What Is The Difference?
We use different suspension systems because different Jeep owners need different levels of capability.
A TeraFlex-based Cruiser package gives us a strong foundation for the Jeep owner focused on daily driving, stance, clearance, tire fitment, and moderate trail use.
A MetalCloak True Dual Rate-based Climber adds suspension capability aimed at increased travel, articulation, and off-road performance.
A MetalCloak Game Changer-based Crawler adds a more complete group of adjustable suspension components, allowing us to take suspension geometry and overall setup considerably further.
None of these packages is intended to make the others obsolete.
They solve different problems.
Frequently Asked Questions About Jeep Lift Kits
What is the best Jeep lift kit for a daily driver?
For a Jeep that spends most of its time on pavement but still sees back roads and moderate trails, the Cruiser package is generally the closest match. It focuses on stance, clearance, larger tire capability, and everyday drivability.
What is the difference between the Cruiser and Climber?
The Cruiser is focused primarily on daily driving, clearance, tire fitment, and moderate trail capability.
The Climber adds suspension components and design features intended to provide increased articulation, suspension travel, and control during more serious trail use.
What is the difference between the Climber and Crawler?
The Climber focuses heavily on increased suspension performance and articulation.
The Crawler moves further into complete suspension adjustability and geometry control through additional adjustable components.
What is the difference between MetalCloak True Dual Rate and Game Changer suspension?
The True Dual Rate system provides a significant increase in suspension travel and articulation.
The Game Changer system builds on that suspension capability with additional adjustable components that provide greater control over axle position, caster, pinion angle, wheelbase, and overall suspension geometry.
Can a Jeep with the Crawler package still be daily driven?
Yes.
The purpose of the Crawler package is not to turn the Jeep into a trail-only vehicle.
The goal is maximum off-road capability and adjustability while maintaining the ability to use the Jeep on the street.
Can you lift a Jeep Gladiator and still have it drive well?
Yes, but the complete suspension setup matters.
Lift height alone does not determine how a Gladiator will drive. Suspension geometry, caster, axle position, steering setup, tire size, alignment, and other factors need to be considered as part of the build.
Do I need adjustable control arms on my Jeep?
Not every Jeep build requires the same level of adjustment.
As lift height, tire size, suspension travel, and off-road demands increase, adjustable control arms provide substantially more ability to correctly position the axles and tune suspension geometry.
Does a lifted Jeep need an alignment?
Yes. Suspension changes can alter toe, steering wheel position, caster, axle position, and other aspects of suspension and steering geometry.
A suspension installation should include appropriate inspection and setup rather than assuming the Jeep is correct simply because the parts have been installed.
What size tires can I run with my Jeep lift?
That depends on the Jeep platform, suspension height, wheel dimensions, bump-stop setup, fender clearance, axle configuration, steering clearance, intended use, and other modifications.
We recommend choosing the tire size as part of the overall build rather than treating the lift kit and tires as unrelated decisions.
